Profile

A former member of New York's finest, now serving with the FBI, Cody Garrett has been a soldier and a cop for his entire adult life. Despite all the craziness of the world, he focuses on the day to day life, saving people who need to be saved, without powers or high tech gadgets or magic. He's not in it for glory or money, he does what he does to serve his city and the people in it. Dedicated and determined, he's willing to throw himself in harm's way no matter what threat he's facing down.

Cody Garrett is the kind of man who could blend into a crowd. Standing at a bit over six-foot, he is Caucasian with black hair and grey eyes. He carries himself like someone who has been in the military. His dark hair is kept short, just a bit longer than the beard he keeps on his face. Grey hairs are starting to show in his hair and beard.

A t-shirt, jacket, and jeans are his usual go-to outfit, though he'll dress nice when he needs to, or if he's working a tactical situation, will be wearing a full tactical gear set.

History

From a young age, Cody Garrett knew what he wanted to be. In a world full of heroes and villains, where other kids wanted to go to space or get super powers, he wanted to be a Marine and a cop. As soon as he was old enough to leave home and join the Marines he did, doing a four-year stint in the infantry.

Once his four years were up, he left the military, now 22 years old, and joined the NYPD. Becoming a rookie in one of the most densely populated places in the world was difficult, but he excelled. He worked hard, getting a great arrest record and finding himself promoted. But he wanted more, he wasn't content to just be a patrol officer.

He worked his way onto the NYPD ESU teams, and then after a couple of years, was offered something he couldn't pass up, a job at the FBI. He'd be able to stay in New York and work for the Bureau, it was the chance of a lifetime. So for the past few years, he has worked in and around the city, and now serves as a field agent and member of the New York office's Hostage Rescue Team.

A dedicated and patriotic man, Cody Garrett loves his country, and loves serving it. He has been actively serving his country and his fellow people since the day he turned eighteen years old, and everything he does is in service of the greater good. He does not put his own interests above those of others, and is willing to risk everything to keep people safe.

He is proud of everything he has accomplished in his life thus far, the skills he has developed and the connections he's made, as well as the advancements in his career. He's never been one to be content with staying where he is at, always pushing forward, with a drive to succeed and a will to win. He can be stubborn and headstrong, however. When a mission is given to him, he will do everything in his power to succeed at it. If that means bending the rules a bit, as long as he is not putting any innocent people in harm's way, he will do it.

Ultimately determined to do what he was taught is right, he also understands that as a non-powered person, there will be times where he'll need to defer to the people with abilities. He's not going to take down a super villain with a hand gun, generally speaking. However he can be a bit of a lone wolf, when not operating with a Hostage Rescue Team element. He trusts his training and knows he can take care of himself, at least when it comes to street level threats.

While he has already achieved a lot of what he wanted in life, like most people, he has goals and dreams still. He wants to continue to rise up in the FBI, perhaps get stationed in Washington D.C. some day, or perhaps move to one other agencies, if he cannot progress any further in the FBI. The DSS, the CIA or even S.H.I.E.L.D. if the chance arises.

Of course not everything is about work. He has hobbies, though a few of them do revolve around things that could count as training. He does mixed martial arts, hits up the gun range and the gym, and of course, has down time with listening to music and gaming. He also really loves to cook, a fact not many people know about him since he has never really been interested in a relationship. He feels that a romantic relationship would hold him down and potentially limit his options for advancing his career.

Cody does often find himself having a bit of trouble 'turning it off' so to speak, when he is out and about, not on duty or working a case. He still finds himself scanning rooms for exits or possible threats, and tends to always have at least one weapon on him at all times, in the event something happens and he is the only one who can respond to it. He has worked lately on finding ways to relax a bit more on a day-to-day basis, but has struggled with it.

ATHLETICS
Cody keeps himself in excellent shape, training every day to ensure that he can keep up with the rigors of his job. Cardio, weight training, boxing, mixed martial arts, the list of what he does in order to keep in shape is extensive.

INVESTIGATIONS
Trained in the fine art of investigating, he can notice fine details, look for things that others may miss, and put things together from clues that he's able to find when trying to find information. He's also able to get intelligence from people, through interrogations or other methods as needed.

MIXED MARTIAL ARTS
Cody has taken it upon himself to train in mixed martial arts, with a focus on boxing and wrestling, with a bit of kickboxing thrown in for good measure. While he would hardly consider himself a professional, it allows him to get a lot of practice with hand-to-hand combat and situational awareness. SWAT TRAINING
As a former ESU officer and current HRT agent, Cody has extensive training in various SWAT tactics and equipment, able to employ them as needed and consider the tactical situations which may require certain pieces of equipment or certain tactics to be used.

WEAPONS TRAINING

As a Marine, ESU officer and now FBI agent, Cody has trained with many weapons of various types, though he specializes primarily in sidearms and other small arms, he's just as comfortable with more heavy weaponry and hand to hand weapons as well.

APARTMENT
Based out of Manhattan's FBI headquarters, Cody maintains a decent enough apartment on the island. It's not anything special, a place to sleep and keep various belongings, as well as a small cache of weapons and a bug-out bag.

FBI EQUIPMENT

Being an agent, Cody has access to everything the FBI is willing to give him. Surveillance equipment, weaponry, safe houses, and whatever else may be needed to enable him to carry out his given goals.

HEADSTRONG
Cody is very headstrong, once he sinks his teeth into something, particularly a case, it's hard to get him to let it go. Though he would never directly go against orders, he will often try to find loopholes or ways to skirt the rules to see a job through.

HUMAN

Cody is human, and as such, comes with all the weaknesses that being human entails. He can get sick, he can die if enough of his blood leaves his body or if he suffers severe trauma.
