Profile

Elektra Natchios is the former Greek Ambassador's daughter, heiress to his estate and fortune. After many years of being a wandering socialite, it seems she's decided to step into his shoes and take a formal role in the public eye, and has started some few altruistic projects backed by Natchios money. Privately, she's known among mercenaries and Asian gangs as one of the most dangerous assassins in the world. To an even smaller number, she is now also known as the Fist who controls The Hand.

Striking. Exotic. Feminine. Those might be the first few words that come to mind upon looking at Elektra Natchios. She is of clear Mediterranean descent, her skin a deep olive tone even in the sunless winter months. Straight black hair reaches halfway down her back and is often let loose in a simple center part. Her eyes border on the edge of brown or black and are just slightly almond shaped. She has a full mouth, generally painted with an artful burgundy lipstick, and fine features with high cheekbones. Her body is slender in a way that might be considered fashionable or, if one realizes how much of it is muscle, dangerous. She stands about five and a half feet without heels.

Her clothing is high class; elegant and understated. Classic. Today, she's in an elegant pair of high waisted black slacks with a deep crimson silk shirt tucked into the sailor-style button waistband. The cuffs of the pants just slightly cover a pair of black spike heels. A few pieces of tasteful jewelry decorate other parts, but she seems to be dressed to not draw attention.

One might not expect one of the most dangerous assassins in the world to have started life as a spoiled rich girl, but that's exactly how Elektra's path began. The daughter to business mogul and Greek ambassador Hugo Natchios and his late wife Christina, Elektra's status as an only child (and last remaining part of his wife) meant that he spoiled her rotten. The best schools, the best clothes, exotic trips abroad every year, tutors, jewelry, anything she ever wanted.

A precocious child, Elektra spoke four languages by the time she was six, and found herself bored with schooling. Filled with excess energy, and showing a malaise with life, her father sought ways to channel his bright daughter, and put her in martial arts, a skill she excelled at. Enough that by the time she was ten, she had been invited to take private lessons, and eventually met her teacher, Stick.

This is where her life's path truly began.

Elektra's life might have been something completely different if it weren't for the cold blooded murder of her father just as she entered the formative years of puberty. While she had always been rich, and would never want for anything, ever, the one thing in life that had meant the world to her - her father - had been taken away. It's unknown if Stick had a hand in engineering her father's death, but he certainly took advantage of it, stepping in to offer Elektra the chance at revenge.

This is when her training began in earnest, and when her life took the dark turn that would define her future. Continuing with her private schooling, Elektra also began to train upwards of six hours a day in the martial arts. This is where she learned to clear her mind and heart of all emotion - things that would hamper her in becoming the weapon she needed to be to avenge her father's death.

It was this single minded focus that would be used against her when she first encountered The Hand, believing them to be behind her father's murder. Those initial encounters were brief, but bloody, yet, within her, they saw what could potentially be a valuable asset and set out to court her, by playing her vulnerabilities. The Hand planted evidence that pointed to Stick as having been her father's murderer, and believing this to be true, Elektra went half mad, hunting Stick down for nearly a year, but never being quite able to bring herself to killing him.

Believing herself a failure as an assassin, and in her quest, Elektra dropped all ties with her past, and tried to make a normal life for herself instead. Moving to the United States, she enrolled in an International Law degree at Columbia University, hoping to focus on the kind of life she knew her father would have wanted for her. It was there that she met Matt Murdock, and fell in love.

It wasn't enough, though. Just like when she was a child, Elektra quickly became bored with her studies. She began to take mercenary jobs on the side to relieve the boredom of the mundane life she'd chosen. She began sparring with her blind lover, Matt. And for a time, this seemed to work. Life was good.

Or would have been, if The Hand had not grown impatient, and she, herself not continued to find herself bored with ordinary life. Even loving Matt Murdoch wasn't enough to stop Elektra from taking on more and more mercenary work, and somehow finding herself working for The Hand, becoming, in time, one of their very best assassins. If they hadn't pushed her to kill her former mentor, she might even have remained one of theirs. It was that push, to have her eliminate Stick, that had Elektra falling out with them once more, and ultimately discovering their true role in her father's death.

In the end, Elektra couldn't balance all the disparate aspects of her life. Her lover wanted her to come clean. She wanted revenge. The mundane just wasn't enough to keep her happy. Elektra lost Matt to her inability to leave her past behind. Without him, there was nothing left to keep her trying to be on the straight and narrow, and she set out to hunt down the upper echelons of The Hand to eliminate them once and for all.

One will never know how this might have ended if a stalemate were not reached: they could not eliminate her; she could not eliminate them. It was a war that could have continued for all their lifetimes if a solution were not presented, a solution that while unorthodox, offered both parties an out. Simply put, Elektra would become The Hand. Not just an assassin working for them - some disparate whorl on one of its fingers - but the fist that was made when they all were clenched.

Now back in New York, Elektra presents a face to the world of stepping back onto the social scene, performing some few acts of altruism, and a seemingly new interest in taking up the reins of her inheritance, while all the while orchestrating the dark underworld mechanisms of the organization that is The Hand. How successful she will be at marrying these two portions of her life is yet to be seen.

Elektra's motivations in life are complex. She's driven by a past filled with actions she's not necessarily happy with, and a present she can't seem to keep herself away from. She's killed more than she can count. She's betrayed those she's loved. In some ways, she feels responsible for her father's death. Despite trying to live a normal life, she was unable to, and yet, she doesn't fully wish to walk in the dark of the life she seems best suited for. The compromise she's reached within herself is this: what good she may do in the world, she does under her public guise; and by being the Fist that controls The Hand, she tells herself that she keeps them from worse evils. The reality may only be that she can't stop herself from being a killer, and these lies allow herself to believe that she is better than she truly is.

BODY CONTROL
Through the years of Elektra's training, she has been taught to focus her mind and body away from pain and damage she is receiving. While she still takes injury, she knows how to focus that pain away now and ignore it for the duration of a fight. It means she can take far more damage than most people in combat, but she also drops hard once a fight is done.

NINJA REFLEXES

Elektra's years of training mean that her reflexes are at the peak of human ability. She can respond to an attack fast as most trained predator animals sometimes faster, depending on how paranoid she is that night. She constantly keeps up her training and is all the more dangerous for her honed response mechanisms.

BIOLOGY
Not a doctor, but Elektra has studied the body for many years specifically focusing on the ways she can defeat it. She knows all the various pressure points on the human body which can be used to quickly down or even kill an opponent. While this skill is specifically limited to humans, should she have study time and access to knowledge about other species, she would be able to pick up such understanding for them as well.

DANCING
Still a debutant and a spoiled rich girl, Elektra's years of training included dancing for quite some time. She's quite capable in ballroom, swing and Latin dancing. It's one of the few relaxing things she actually enjoys.

LANGUAGES
Elektra currently speaks Greek, Spanish, French, Japanese, Chinese and English fluently. She's picked up conversational Arabic, Italian and Portuguese in her travels. Part of being a highly intelligent mercenary and assassin means that she has a routine reason to use all these languages as well!

MARTIAL ARTS
Elektra has been training in some form of martial arts since she was six years old. She's become one of the world's best assassins, having gone through multiple masters of the highest nature during her years training. She can taken on a dozen ninjas by herself, moves as fast as a normal human being can, and knows how to use her opponent's weight against them with deadly force.

STEALTH

The Hand trains, primarily, ninjas. While Elektra's abilities go beyond Ninjutsu, having had other teachers, she has been highly trained in the art of simply not being seen. She can scale walls, blend into shadows, manage across surfaces that should not hold her weight, and handle any of the classic stealthing techniques the ninjas of legend know. If the woman doesn't wish to be seen nothing beyond supernatural senses will see her.

AMBASSADOR'S DAUGHTER
Elektra still has high political and government connections due to her father having been the Greek ambassador to the United States for two decades.

ARSENAL
Due to the large amount of money she's inherited, Elektra keeps a highly dangerous arsenal of weapons at all points in time. Assault rifles to hand guns, body armor, a wide variety of knives, machetes and garrotes, Elektra is armed for all sorts of combat needs. She even has fancy, useful things like zip lines, shadow suits, and more finesse gear that isn't directly for killing, but helps her get jobs done far easier.

NATCHIOS FORTUNE
Elektra's father was always a very competent business man and has kept his money in untold amounts of banks across the world. So, she is the inheritor of that fortune and will always have access to a mass amount of money even if a single country's economy tanks.

THE HAND

As their (new) leader, Elektra has at her disposal a fine network of assassins and other assorted assets. While she may not know each and every member of her organization personally, if she needs a job done, or a contact, she can easily find someone who will either be able to perform that task, or put her in touch with someone who can. In short, like any business, she delegates, and enjoys the rewards of what her people can do for her.

ADRENALINE ADDICT
Elektra has always found herself bored with a regular life. Even when she was trying to have one, she was fighting on the side and found what mercenary work she could. While part of her longs for normalcy, she's too addicted to adrenaline to keep it around for long.

ENEMIES
Elektra is an assassin. Killing comes to her as naturally as breathing. Her instinct is to slay, not merely to defend herself or render her opponents helpless. This often places her at odds with other, more moderate (or, arguably, sane) individuals. There's also dozens, possibly hundreds, of individuals throughout the world who have a personal vendetta against Elektra for killing someone they loved or respected.

GUILTY
Elektra is not proud of everything she has done in her past. Nor is she proud of many things she continues to do. She's merely decided that it's how it has to be, and, for the most part, finds herself able to shut her emotions down and pretend that they don't exist. For the most part. At times her guilt comes back to plague her. She sleeps little, and when she does, often has bad dreams. She finds herself trying to find ways to make up for her actions, only to find herself bored to tears with the mundanity of life, and then finding herself taking actions to combat that boredom that others might find.. unsavoury. Her guilt finds Elektra struggling to balance the two aspects of her life, and quite often failing.

THE HAND

This weakness is two-fold. As their leader, Elektra is now responsible for the organization. This not only makes her a target, but if there is flack or falling out, it rests upon her shoulders. Unlike other businesses, she can't just sit back on her laurels and do nothing. As well, there are those within the organization that are not happy with this latest turn of events, and remember Elektra hunting them down. They would be quite happy to remove her from her new position and set someone else there. In short, she's a target from within and without.
