|Profile=Heir to the multi-billion dollar corporation known as Worthington Industries, Warren Worthington III has all the trappings of a self-absorbed, flirtatious young playboy, glib, witty, and seemingly uncaring about the world around him. Yet this superficial façade hides a truly caring and selfless heart, though one damaged slightly by events during his time with the X-Men that have scarred him both emotionally and physically. Openly a mutant, Warren uses his means both at Xavier's and abroad to help those in need of it, pursuing altruistic causes for both humans and mutants alike -- even as he struggles with the darker urges inside him.

After initially trying to deny and hide his mutation, Warren embraced it. First as the independent Avenging Angel, then as the X-Men's Angel, Warren put his talents to help others. |Description=At 6', with a pretty face and hand-tailored clothes to boot, Warren Worthington strikes a decisively preppy appearance. Angular features and the streamlined body of a surfer or swimmer's physique complement well with his short, swept blonde hair and strikingly blue eyes, skin boasting a modest tan and an easy smile that covers the sometimes distant way he addresses the world effortlessly. <br><br>His taste in fashion tends to have a wide gamut, but he often favors tailored clothes in the form of fetching suits of various stripes and made for a close fit, which work well with the confident way he tends to carry himself, but t-shirts and jeans are also far from out of the question, either. Either way -- it's highly unlikely he'll ever be caught dead wearing something off-brand. <br><br>What's most striking about him, though, are the wings; sometimes hidden, sometimes not, they stretch an impressive eighteen foot wingspan, full of soft, ruffled white feathers that give him an angelic cast, especially when combined with everything else. They are elegant and graceful and big and cumbersome but at least they're pretty, right? <br><br>Sometimes these wings are metal, and his skin is blue. It's a very bad time for someone when this happens.
|Description=<span style="color:#00CED1">'''ANGEL'''</span><br>Six feet tall, clean shaven, blue-eyed, with wavy blond hair that hangs over his ears, Angel is a very handsome 20-something year-old man. He is lightly tanned and has a lean swimmer's build. Smiling and playful, he carries himself with an easy confidence and charm. Warren is immaculately dressed for the occasion, whatever it is. His clothing choices are decidedly upper-class private school, tending more to classic, tailored and high quality than to trendy or bleeding edge fashion. As an X-Man, he wears a blue skin-tight suit with white accents along the torso and chest, with white gloves.<br><br>There is no overlooking the wings. Beautiful, massive, white, feathered wings stretch out from Warren's back. They reach easily over 16 feet from tip to tip. He looks like a modern-day angel.<br><br><span style="color:#00CED1">'''ARCHANGEL'''</span><br>Tall, black-haired, with black pupiless eyes, Archangel is a decidedly menacing counterpart to Angel. Though he has the same physique, his bearing and expression are aggressive, even malevolent. Archangel invariable appears in a skin-tight black outfit with deep purple accents across the chest and limbs.<br><br>His wings are massive, metallic and deep silver in colour. They are stylized, sleek, razor sharp and techno-organic, Archangel's wings carry none of the beauty of his other persona's.
|History=Born in Centerport, New York to the prestigious Worthington family, heir apparent of the multi-billion dollar enterprise of Worthington Industries, Warren wanted for very little as a child. He attended the best schools, lived in the best house(s), had the best care, and even moreso, his father and mother cared for him dearly. <br><br>Which, perhaps, was why Warren, so used to being normal, rich, and happy, at first found himself shocked -- horrified -- when his mutation first manifested while he was attending Phillips Exeter Academy. When his wings finally -- painfully -- sprouted from his shoulder blades, when they grew far too large for him to reasonably be able to hide, Warren felt himself hideous -- that he was a freak, detestable and sure to be shunned. <br><br>... And then he discovered he could use those wings to fly. <br><br>It was the most thrilling -- most remarkable -- experience of his life. And Warren, natural thrill seeker that he was, dived into this ability with an enthusiasm that would put the most egregious of bon vivants to shame. Deciding to use these newfound powers to help people, Warren dressed himself up using props from the academy, concealing his identity as the "Avenging Angel" and using that secret identity to help those in need, including one Cameron Hodge, a young man who would surely be Warren's friend and confidante for life and never, ever stab him in the back. <br><br>Eventually, though, Warren was discovered by Xavier and his institute -- and eventually, he would be invited to join not only the School, but Xavier's own team of mutant superheroes, the X-Men. He, of course, accepted eagerly, and while his naturally playboyish persona chafed with some, he soon became an indispensable and loyal member of the team, his natural empathy and desire to do good pushing him to excel -- a drive that would only increase after the death of his father and his decision to publically reveal himself as a mutant. <br><br>His tenure with the X-Men would be only briefly interrupted at a particularly harrowing point in his life. Betrayed (gasp!) by Cameron and left without his wings, Angel was captured and enthralled by the ancient mutant Apocalypse, briefly becoming Death, the leader of his Horsemen. Though he was saved, and though his tenure under the old and powerful mutant was brief, the mark it left on him was profound -- and one that Warren still grapples with to this day, doing his best to further the goals of the X-Men and put on a carefree face for the world... even as he struggles with those scars that yet linger.
|History=Warren was born to Warren and Kathryn Worthington, of the wealthy and influential Worthingtons. As their only child, he was the heir to their family fortune and was groomed from a young age to inherit control of the multi-billion dollar conglomerate Worthington Industries. His parents doted on him and he wanted for nothing. Warren attended various boarding schools for the super wealthy in New York and was a carefree youngster.<br><br>His life changed when his mutant abilities manifested. Initially horrified when he grew wings, Warren did his best to hide the mutation from everyone, especially his parents. But the change in Warren was not to be denied. Thinking it was best for him, Warren's parents did their best to find a 'cure' for his condition, but to no avail. While is parents were trying in vain to help their son, Warren discovered the beauty of wings; he could fly. This began a lifelong fascination and enjoyment of flight, in all its forms. Over time, Warren came to realize he could use his talents to help others. He dressed up in costume and called himself the Avenging Angel.<br><br>Before long, the Avenging Angel came to the attention of Professor Xavier. Under the Professor's tutelage Warren trained to become one of the founding X-Men and took the name Angel.<br><br>Not long after becoming one of the X-Men, Warren's father was killed by Burtram Worthington in a plot wrestle control of the Worthington family fortune. Before Burtram could be stopped by the X-Men, Burtram was able to poison and kill Warren's mother.<br><br>After his parents' deaths, Warren moved to Cambridge, Massachusetts to study at Harvard. During this time he became a public mutant and inherited his family's fortune. Worthington Industries was placed in the stewardship of trusted family advisors until Warren became ready to take on the massive responsibilities of running the conglomerate.<br><br>Warren became increasingly involved in pro-mutant, mutant-human relations and mutant welfare causes during his time at Harvard. After graduating, he came back to New York to rejoin his team mates. In a battle against Harpoon, Warren's wings were mutilated and later forcibly amputated when a former classmate, Cameron Hodge, planted false evidence that amputation was necessary and got a court order. Hodge then attempted murder Warren and make it look like a suicide.<br><br>Warren was saved from the murder plot, a bomb on his private jet, by the ancient mutant Apocalypse. Apocalypse brainwashed Warren and had Warren serve his as Death, one of the four horsemen. Iceman broke Apocalypse's control over Warren during a battle in New York. Warren could not face his teammates after what he had done as Death and struggling with the killer instincts Apocalypse had implanted in him. He left the team to live with his girlfriend out of the public eye. Unfortunately, Hodge kidnapped and killed her, and Warren attacked Hodge in retaliation.<br><br>After a short time away, Warren returned to the X-Men and was dubbed Archangel by Beast. Brooding and troubled by his past and his instincts, Warren remained with the X-Men until Jean's death. This along with everything else proved too much for Warren, and he left the X-Men again and went overseas. He lived a public life as a philanthropist, still championing his chosen causes, and buried his troubles in a playboy lifestyle. Even after Jean was discovered to be alive, he stayed away and had little contact with his former teammates.<br><br>Now, a year and a half after Jean's return, Warren has come back to Xavier's and the X-Men hoping to start a new chapter in his life.
|Personality=Flirtatious, bold, thrill-seeking and seemingly perpetually carefree, Warren strikes a stereotypical rich playboy image to most that meat him, and at least in part this persona is real. He enjoys challenging himself, he enjoys the finger things in life, he enjoys -living- -- but his heart is genuinely selfless and well-meaning, and he cares and is deeply loyal to those he counts amongst his friends. It's an altruistic nature that has been tempered by the trauma he has endured and the darker impulses he is now saddled with, struggling with the constant fear that he may hurt the people and things important to him and the aggression of his Archangel side that he tries to mask as best he can with his fast living and fervent dedication towards the wellbeing of Xavier's and the students within.
|Personality=Warren used to be a carefree, extroverted young man, and he plays the façade well. Outwardly charming, glib and witty (at least to his mind), Warren is an incorrigible flirt who loves parties and adventure. He is often arrogant and outspoken, and chafes when expected to be under the authority of anyone else. Having lost his parents and the only girlfriend he ever truly connected with in circumstances he blames himself for, and deeply ashamed of his past as Death, Warren keeps others at a distance. He is, however, deeply passionate about the causes he believes in and uses his considerable resources and talents to further them. He also shown time and again with the X-Men that he willing to risk and sacrifice to protect others.<br><br>Warren does not believe in killing except in the most extreme and unavoidable circumstances. The destruction he wrought during his time as Death and the killer instincts of his Archangel persona trouble him deeply and he fights to keep them in check. In many ways, what he does now to further and protect others are not just expressions of his values but penance for his wrongs. He is prone to fits of brooding and temper when these overwhelm him. As a result, he is considerably more introverted than he was, though he plays the part of his old self well in public and private.
|Abilities=<span style="color:#00CED1">'''ENHANCED PHYSIOLOGY'''</span><br>Because of his mutation, Angel's entire body is adapted toward flying: his bones are hollow, his metabolism faster and more efficient, and his muscle mass is more streamlined with an extremely small proportion of body fat. He possesses peak human strength, able to lift up to 500 pounds, and his flexibility, agility, speed, endurance, reflexes, coordination, balance, eyesight and hearing all similarly operate at their peaks. He can process oxygen more efficiently than others, allowing him to breathe at high altitudes and extreme velocities, as well as enduring extreme colds in temperatures and a body built durable enough to withstand the incredible accelerations he is capable of reaching.<br><br><span style="color:#00CED1">'''FLIGHT'''</span><br>Thanks to his wings and enhanced physiology, Warren is capable of achieving flight; with his normal, feathered wings, he averages speeds of roughly 70 mph and a maximum of 150 mph, a speed he can maintain for roughly a half hour before fatigue sets in, with swooping speeds approaching approximately 180 mph. When his wings are in their techno-organic form, these speeds are exponentially faster, though the upper limits of this speed isn't quite known; it is fast enough that he can reach the United States from Brazil in a matter of a handful of hours at most.<br><br><span style="color:#00CED1">'''HEALING FACTOR'''</span><br>A secondary mutation, Warren's blood contains a regenerative healing factor that allows him to recover from injuries at a much faster rate than normal humans; while nothing remarkable compared to Wolverine's, he is capable of healing wounds such as slashes and punctures within hours, and mend broken bones in a week's time instead of months. <br><br>What is truly special about this property, though, is that it can affect others; people given blood transfusions with Warren's blood will be able to heal injuries at a much faster rate for a limited duration... provided they have the same blood type as him, at any rate.<br><br><span style="color:#00CED1">'''TECHNO-ORGANIC WINGS'''</span><br>When he was taken by Apocalypse and transformed into the Horseman of Death, Warren's original flesh-and-blood wings were replaced with a pair made of techno-organic, Celestial technology. These wings are highly flexible and highly mutable; they are capable of assuming the form of his original, white, feather wings, and can fold tight against his back to largely conceal them from sight if necessary. <br><br>In their techno-organic form, these wings are highly durable and allow Warren to fly at high speeds, able to cross the space between North and South America within hours. They are also capable of loosing metallic feathers as flechettes that are sharp enough and move fast enough to penetrate steel. On top of this, the techno-organic feathers of these wings are all laced with a neural inhibitor chemical they produce naturally, inducing temporary paralysis in people they cut (immunities and healing factors notwithstanding). These wings are also incredibly strong and durable, able to knock someone through walls and endure intense punishment. <br><br>Though it is just a superficial change, Warren's skintone also changes to blue when his wings shift towards their techno-organic form, a sign of Apocalypse's mark on him.
|Abilities=<span style="color:#00CED1">'''AERIAL ADAPTATION'''</span><br>Warren's entire anatomy is naturally adapted to flying. His bones are hollow, his body processes food more efficiently than a normal human body and does not store any excess fat, and he possesses a greater proportionate muscle mass than normal. As a result, his strength, speed, agility, flexibility, endurance, reflexes, coordination, balance, eyesight and hearing are at their peak. Elements of his anatomy are comparable to those of birds, especially birds of prey. His eyes can withstand high-speed winds which would damage the average human eye. He can breathe at high velocities or altitudes, and he can cope with the reduced temperatures at high altitudes for prolonged periods of time, giving him a greater-than-normal capacity to endure low temperatures in areas such as the Arctic.<br><br><span style="color:#00CED1">'''PEAK HUMAN STRENGTH'''</span><br>Due to his body's natural mutation, Warren possesses greater physical strength than an ordinary human equal to him in body weight and can lift about 500 lbs.<br><br><span style="color:#00CED1">'''REGENERATIVE HEALING FACTOR'''</span><br>Warren's blood has a potent healing factor. It allows him to heal injuries extremely quickly, including regenerating his wings. He is able to heal minor injuries almost immediately, broken bones within days. Transfusions of his blood grant his regenerative abilities to others, though with mixed results. With one person his blood might be able to heal fatal injuries, with another they might not work at all.<br><br><span style="color:#00CED1">'''SUPERHUMAN DURABILITY'''</span><br>The tissues of Warren's body are somewhat harder and more durable than that of an ordinary human, though he is far from invulnerable. While he can be injured in ways comparable to an ordinary human, his body is structured to withstand the friction caused by flying at high speeds. He can also withstand impact forces that would severely injure or kill an ordinary human with only mild to moderate discomfort.<br><br><span style="color:#00CED1">'''SUPERHUMAN STAMINA'''</span><br>Warren's musculature produces less fatigue toxins during physical activity than the musculature of an ordinary human. He can physically exert himself at peak capacity for several hours before the build up of fatigue toxins in his blood begins to impair him. His physical stamina while in flight is considerably greater. Warren can fly non-stop under his own power for a maximum of approximately twelve hours. Contrary to some reports, he couldn't make a transatlantic flight solely on his own power. During his one attempt to do so, he hitched a ride on an airplane for part of the way.<br><br><span style="color:#00CED1">'''TECHNO-ORGANIC WINGS'''</span><br>Warren has a pair of large techno-organic wings, with a wingspan of about 16 feet. In his normal form, they appear to be his old white feathered wings. These grant him the ability to fly at up to almost 300 km/h up to heights of 10,000 feet. He can reach heights of 29,000 feet for a few minutes.<br><br>When he is in his Archangel form, his wings take on a stylized metallic appearance grant him several abilities. In this form Warren can fly at hypersonic speeds. The wings develop razor sharp mono-molecular edges. The wings are formidable weapons, capable of cutting through even tempered steel. Also, the wings harden in this form and are capable of shielding Warren from bullets, missiles and even radioactive plasma. Finally, this form allows Warren to discharge feathers as flechettes that are coated in a neurotoxin. This neurotoxin paralyzes victims without poison resistance or immunity for several hours.
|Skills=<span style="color:#00CED1">'''BUSINESS SKILLS'''</span><br>Even if he has all the trappings of a spoiled trust fund golden boy, Warren is actually extremely business savvy, with a naturally sharp mind that translates towards expert strategizing and recognizing opportunities and when to capitalize on them. He is a natural at business, and this also translates to an impressive leadership ability -- though he often shirks away from such things, especially now when he's grappling with much more dangerous problems.<br><br><span style="color:#00CED1">'''COMBAT'''</span><br>Warren has a considerable amount of combat training thanks to his time at Xavier's and years of athletics. He is especially good at swordplay (and fencing, like any good preppy trust fund baby) and aerial combat, able to fight adeptly and overpower and outskill many in hand-to-hand combat while fighting in mid-air, favoring fast, swooping attacks from above. His natural aptitude with bladed weapons translates into using his techno-organic wings; Warren is enough of a swordsman to be able to fight individuals like the Silver Samurai on roughly equal footing.<br><br><span style="color:#00CED1">'''PILOTING'''</span><br>Yes. Warren is an expert pilot for things like planes, helicopters, pretty much anything airborne. Yes, this is very ironic. Yes, he is aware of it. <br><br>He just loves to fly. Shh.
|Skills=<span style="color:#00CED1">'''ALS TECHNICIAN'''</span><br>During his time training with the X-Men, Warren has received extensive paramedic and field medical training. He is able to triage life threatening injuries and stand in as a combat medic. His skills are equivalent to an advanced life support technician, and include knowing how to start IV's and administer life saving drugs. This is particularly useful since the healing factor in his blood can be imparted on others through transfusion.<br><br><span style="color:#00CED1">'''EXECUTIVE'''</span><br>Warren has been groomed from a young age to inherit Worthington Industries. This grooming continued into his early adult years with an accelerated BComm/MBA program at Harvard. He has honed his skills with a variety of senior roles in foundations and charitable organizations. Warren is a savvy executive and a capable leader.<br><br><span style="color:#00CED1">'''EXPERT COMBATANT'''</span><br>Warren has received extensive hand-to-hand and weapons training in the Danger Room with Professor X and other X-Men. His training also included developing specific strategies to use and take advantage of his mutant abilities. His particular specialty is aerial hand-to-hand combat. In addition to his training, his time with the X-Men has given him plenty of opportunities to hone his skills and gather experience.<br><br><span style="color:#00CED1">'''PILOT'''</span><br>Warren's fascination with flight has led him to seek training and certification with rotary and fixed-wing aircraft, including jet ratings. Also he has had training flying the X-Men's jet.
|Resources=<span style="color:#00CED1">'''FAMILY NAME'''</span><br>The Worthington line is an old and respected family. They have ties to many respectable institutions, businesses, families and politicians across the United States and overseas, as far as even the prestigious Hellfire Club, and these connections afford Warren some valuable pull when necessary.<br><br><span style="color:#00CED1">'''TRUST FUND'''</span><br>Warren's family is worth, conservatively, billions. His trust fund affords him with considerable monetary resources that he often puts to use for the sake of Xavier's Institute. As well as fancy cars and expensive parties, which he will very much insist is also for the Institute's benefit.<br><br><span style="color:#00CED1">'''WORTHINGTON INDUSTRIES'''</span><br>A multi-billion dollar corporation with fingers in countless amounts of industrial pies, Warren is set to inherit this company as soon as he is old enough; in the meantime, lawyers and trusted employees of the company handle affairs in his place, but despite not yet having official reins of the company, just being its heir affords him a tremendous amount of influence and resources, as well as no small amount of name recognition.
|Resources=<span style="color:#00CED1">'''EXTENSIVE TIES'''</span><br>Warren inherited his father's membership in the Hellfire Club. While Warren is an infrequent attender, he has the ability to work through the club to draw on extensive ties across the world. Also, as the Worthington heir and future CEO of Worthington Industries, Warren has a global network of family and personal connections that he can draw on, and sometimes draw on him in return.<br><br><span style="color:#00CED1">'''WORTHINGTON FORTUNE'''</span><br>The Worthington family fortune is worth several billion dollars and is now under Warren's control.<br><br><span style="color:#00CED1">'''WORTHINGTON INDUSTRIES'''</span><br>Currently, Worthington Industries is being handled by a group of trusted family advisors. These people steward the company, update and continue to prepare Warren and generally manage things until Warren is ready to take over. While he is not currently the controlling executive, by virtue of who he is, Warren has access to various corporate resources across the world.<br><br><span style="color:#00CED1">'''XAVIER'S SCHOOL'''</span><br>Warren is an advisor at Xavier's School. This gives him access to the school's extensive grounds and resources, as well contacts with its faculty and students.<br><br><span style="color:#00CED1">'''X-MEN'''</span><br>Warren is one of the founding members of the X-Men and has returned to that team after being away. He has access to X-Men uniforms, equipment and vehicles. More importantly, he has the backing and support of his teammates.
|Weaknesses=<span style="color:#00CED1">'''INCORRIGIBLE FLIRT'''</span><br>While part of it is just a part of the playboy persona he likes to project, Warren has an unfortunate weakness for a pretty face, and no amount of psychological trauma can deter him from being suckered by a nice smile every now and then. It's not his fault. He has a problem.<br><br><span style="color:#00CED1">'''OBVIOUS MUTATION'''</span><br>While he can fold them in against his back, Warren still has an -enormous- pair of wings that even the fanciest of custom-tailored suits can't often quite hide as perfectly as he might like at times. On top of this, when they assume their techno-organic form, his skin also changes pigments to blue, making him even more recognizable as something obviously mutant; and while he feels no shame in this, it doubtless causes problems on occasion.<br><br><span style="color:#00CED1">'''THE ARCHANGEL'''</span><br>Warren's time under Apocalypse's thrall has left an indelible mark on him that will, perhaps, never leave: the Archangel, a violent and ruthless persona dedicated to Apocalypse's genetic manifesto that still lingers in Warren's psyche. While psychic therapy has helped to rein in the impulses that make up Archangel, they cannot be completely restrained. Whenever he makes use of his techno-organic wings, Angel becomes noticeably more aggressive and more willing to hurt others than he is normally -- he is more confrontational and cocky, and if he is not careful, he can lose himself in it. He experiences frequent nightmares, and his fears of once more falling into his old mantle as the Horseman of Death and hurting his friends and loved ones makes him oftentimes emotionally distant from others, projecting that adventurous, flirtatious playboy persona more as a coping mechanism to keep others distant. <br><br>The more violent tendencies of the Archangel are largely kept in check thanks to the efforts of the good people of Xavier... but that fear still lingers, and still affects Warren -- profoundly.
|Weaknesses=<span style="color:#00CED1">'''DEATH'''</span><br>Warren's time as Death in service to Apocalypse has left its mark. Warren battles ruthless, lethal instincts that seek domination and destruction when in his altered form. Even in his normal form, these urges have their pull, goading him toward uncontrolled transformation and disastrous consequences.<br><br>Also, Warren does not have full control of his form. He is not able to transform at will; rather, times of great stress and anger can cause him to transform. This can leave him battling his worst instincts at times when he needs that control the most. And he knows that he is always only one slip from another stain on his soul.<br><br><span style="color:#00CED1">'''PUBLIC PERSONA'''</span><br>Warren has been a public mutant and outspoken activist for a few years now. His particularly obvious mutation has also meant that he is known to be the X-Men member Angel/Archangel. He is also the face of the Worthington name and is on the board of directors for a number of non-profit organizations that push his causes. Finally, as a prominent public mutant, many young mutants look up to him. This puts his actions under a great deal of scrutiny, and missteps can have very real costs well beyond him. There also limits to what he can have as a personal life. For instance, anything more serious than a passing dalliance draws media attention. So Warren has to be very careful to maintain this public persona, whether he wants to or not; too much depends on it.<br><br><span style="color:#00CED1">'''WOMEN'''</span><br>Warren is an absolute sucker for a pretty face, and it has gotten him in trouble any number of times. A terrible flirt to begin with, he can't seem to resist. Beautiful damsels, particularly those in (or feigning) distress, are a danger and have proven to be an easy route to manipulate him.

Profile

Born into extreme wealth and privilege, Warren wanted for nothing. His world changed when his mutant powers emerged and he grew his trademark wings. After initially trying to deny and hide his mutation, Warren embraced it. First as the independent Avenging Angel, then as the X-Men's Angel, Warren put his talents to help others. Carefree, arrogant, charming and outspoken, he often tried the patience of some of his more serious X-Men partners.

Clouds gathered in Warren's life when his uncle, Burt Worthington, murdered Warren's parents in two separate incidents in a plot to control the Worthington fortune. Not long later after his wings were mutilated and amputated, Warren was abducted by Apocalypse. Apocalypse altered Warren extensively, making him one of the four horsemen; Death. As Death, Warren fought against his friends. Iceman faked his own death to shock Warren free of Apocalypse's control.

In 2024, following Jean Grey's death, Warren took an absence from the X-Men, heading overseas to work with mutant philanthropist organizations and recover from his ordeals. Even after Jean's amazing return, he has stayed away, living as a wealthy playboy philanthropist, particularly for causes that promote mutant-Human relations.

Now, two years later, Warren has returned to New York, the Xavier School and the X-Men to bury the demons from his past and try to reclaim his real life.

His life changed when his mutant abilities manifested. He dressed up in costume and called himself the Avenging Angel.

Before long, the Avenging Angel came to the attention of Professor Xavier. Under the Professor's tutelage Warren trained to become one of the founding X-Men and took the name Angel.

Not long after becoming one of the X-Men, Warren's father was killed by Burtram Worthington in a plot wrestle control of the Worthington family fortune. Before Burtram could be stopped by the X-Men, Burtram was able to poison and kill Warren's mother.

After his parents' deaths, Warren moved to Cambridge, Massachusetts to study at Harvard. During this time he became a public mutant and inherited his family's fortune. Worthington Industries was placed in the stewardship of trusted family advisors until Warren became ready to take on the massive responsibilities of running the conglomerate.

Warren became increasingly involved in pro-mutant, mutant-human relations and mutant welfare causes during his time at Harvard. After graduating, he came back to New York to rejoin his team mates. In a battle against Harpoon, Warren's wings were mutilated and later forcibly amputated when a former classmate, Cameron Hodge, planted false evidence that amputation was necessary and got a court order. Hodge then attempted murder Warren and make it look like a suicide.

Warren was saved from the murder plot, a bomb on his private jet, by the ancient mutant Apocalypse. Unfortunately, Hodge kidnapped and killed her, and Warren attacked Hodge in retaliation.

After a short time away, Warren returned to the X-Men and was dubbed Archangel by Beast. Even after Jean was discovered to be alive, he stayed away and had little contact with his former teammates.

Now, a year and a half after Jean's return, Warren has come back to Xavier's and the X-Men hoping to start a new chapter in his life.

Personality

Warren used to be a carefree, extroverted young man, and he plays the façade well. He also shown time and again with the X-Men that he willing to risk and sacrifice to protect others.

Warren does not believe in killing except in the most extreme and unavoidable circumstances.

Abilities

AERIAL ADAPTATION
Warren's entire anatomy is naturally adapted to flying. He can breathe at high velocities or altitudes, and he can cope with the reduced temperatures at high altitudes for prolonged periods of time, giving him a greater-than-normal capacity to endure low temperatures in areas such as the Arctic.

PEAK HUMAN STRENGTH
Due to his body's natural mutation, Warren possesses greater physical strength than an ordinary human equal to him in body weight and can lift about 500 lbs.

REGENERATIVE HEALING FACTOR
Warren's blood has a potent healing factor. It allows him to heal injuries extremely quickly, including regenerating his wings. He is able to heal minor injuries almost immediately, broken bones within days. Transfusions of his blood grant his regenerative abilities to others, though with mixed results. With one person his blood might be able to heal fatal injuries, with another they might not work at all.

SUPERHUMAN DURABILITY
The tissues of Warren's body are somewhat harder and more durable than that of an ordinary human, though he is far from invulnerable. While he can be injured in ways comparable to an ordinary human, his body is structured to withstand the friction caused by flying at high speeds. He can also withstand impact forces that would severely injure or kill an ordinary human with only mild to moderate discomfort.

SUPERHUMAN STAMINA
Warren's musculature produces less fatigue toxins during physical activity than the musculature of an ordinary human. During his one attempt to do so, he hitched a ride on an airplane for part of the way.

TECHNO-ORGANIC WINGS
Warren has a pair of large techno-organic wings, with a wingspan of about 16 feet. In his normal form, they appear to be his old white feathered wings. These grant him the ability to fly at up to almost 300 km/h up to heights of 10,000 feet. He can reach heights of 29,000 feet for a few minutes.

When he is in his Archangel form, his wings take on a stylized metallic appearance grant him several abilities.

Skills

ALS TECHNICIAN
During his time training with the X-Men, Warren has received extensive paramedic and field medical training. He is able to triage life threatening injuries and stand in as a combat medic. His skills are equivalent to an advanced life support technician, and include knowing how to start IV's and administer life saving drugs. This is particularly useful since the healing factor in his blood can be imparted on others through transfusion.

EXECUTIVE
Warren has been groomed from a young age to inherit Worthington Industries. This grooming continued into his early adult years with an accelerated BComm/MBA program at Harvard. He has honed his skills with a variety of senior roles in foundations and charitable organizations. Warren is a savvy executive and a capable leader.

EXPERT COMBATANT
Warren has received extensive hand-to-hand and weapons training in the Danger Room with Professor X and other X-Men. His training also included developing specific strategies to use and take advantage of his mutant abilities. His particular specialty is aerial hand-to-hand combat. In addition to his training, his time with the X-Men has given him plenty of opportunities to hone his skills and gather experience.

PILOT
Warren's fascination with flight has led him to seek training and certification with rotary and fixed-wing aircraft, including jet ratings. Also he has had training flying the X-Men's jet.

Resources

EXTENSIVE TIES
Warren inherited his father's membership in the Hellfire Club. While Warren is an infrequent attender, he has the ability to work through the club to draw on extensive ties across the world. Also, as the Worthington heir and future CEO of Worthington Industries, Warren has a global network of family and personal connections that he can draw on, and sometimes draw on him in return.

WORTHINGTON FORTUNE
The Worthington family fortune is worth several billion dollars and is now under Warren's control.

WORTHINGTON INDUSTRIES
Currently, Worthington Industries is being handled by a group of trusted family advisors. These people steward the company, update and continue to prepare Warren and generally manage things until Warren is ready to take over. While he is not currently the controlling executive, by virtue of who he is, Warren has access to various corporate resources across the world.

XAVIER'S SCHOOL
Warren is an advisor at Xavier's School. This gives him access to the school's extensive grounds and resources, as well contacts with its faculty and students.

X-MEN
Warren is one of the founding members of the X-Men and has returned to that team after being away. He has access to X-Men uniforms, equipment and vehicles. More importantly, he has the backing and support of his teammates.

Weaknesses

DEATH
Warren's time as Death in service to Apocalypse has left its mark. Warren battles ruthless, lethal instincts that seek domination and destruction when in his altered form. Even in his normal form, these urges have their pull, goading him toward uncontrolled transformation and disastrous consequences.

Also, Warren does not have full control of his form. He is not able to transform at will; rather, times of great stress and anger can cause him to transform. This can leave him battling his worst instincts at times when he needs that control the most. And he knows that he is always only one slip from another stain on his soul.

PUBLIC PERSONA
Warren has been a public mutant and outspoken activist for a few years now. So Warren has to be very careful to maintain this public persona, whether he wants to or not; too much depends on it.

WOMEN
Warren is an absolute sucker for a pretty face, and it has gotten him in trouble any number of times. A terrible flirt to begin with, he can't seem to resist. Beautiful damsels, particularly those in (or feigning) distress, are a danger and have proven to be an easy route to manipulate him.
