Barry Allen is the fastest man alive. He lives fast, talks fast, and even eats fast! He is just looking to make this world a better place by fighting crime, and saving lives one person at a time. As a member of the Justice League, the hero known as The Flash is instantaneously recognizable, when he is moving slow enough to be seen as anything other than a scarlet and yellow streak. He stands just under 6 feet tall with the lean build of a runner, his athletic musculature visible under the skin-tight bodysuit he wears.

The scarlet bodysuit covers him from head to toe, with yellow lightning bolt pattern accents at his waist and just below each elbow. The cowl of the bodysuit covers the majority of his head save for a pair of eyeholes from which piercing blue eyes shine, and an open space underneath leaving his nose and mouth visible. Over the ears are a pair of golden wings, replicating the wings of Mercury, and in the center of his chest, a circle of white crossed diagonally with another yellow lightning bolt. On his feet, a pair of yellow boots, which end a few inches below the knee. The crackle of energy surrounds him, as little miniature arcs of electricity flow over his body in random patters.

History

Born a couple of weeks past his due date, to Henry and Nora Allen in a small midwestern town, Bartholomew Henry "Barry" Allen was late from the start. A bad habit which only seemed to continue throughout his life as he could never seem to make it to anything on time.

When he was a child his young life was brought to a sudden halt by the murder of his mother. A crime for which his father was accused and convicted of. Never believing in his father's guilt, and with a drive to prove his father's innocence, Barry was instilled with a strong sense of justice and was driven to become a forensic scientist, getting a major in organic chemistry and a minor in criminal justice. After graduation, Barry took a job with the Central City Police Department Scientific Bureau.

Barry became a workaholic, spending his life mostly at his desk, working to solve the cases that came across his desk at the CCPD. Due to his single-minded focus, he was constantly late for dates or other appointments.

On one such late night, during an electrical storm, Barry returned to an experiment after a taking a break. A freak lightning bolt streaked though his window and hit a shelf in his lab, dousing his body with a mixture of chemicals! As a result, Barry finds himself blessed with superhuman speed and reflexes!

Now being able to race up walls, run across oceans and move so fast her can phase though solid object, Barry decides to use his new-found powers for the benefit of humanity. He dons a set of red tights emblazoned with a lightning bolt, and calls himself the Flash after his childhood comic book hero.

Barry Allen is a trained forensic scientist. This training means that he approaches things as an investigator and not just a fighter. His scientific approach allows him to come up with new and creative ways to use his speed.

Barry is also an intelligent, thoughtful, mild mannered guy that is always trying to do the right thing. He is always trying to see the best in people. He's can be a bit introverted and reserved, but is a happy and light hearted person that is well liked and respected by the people who really get to know him. Batman has even said "Barry is the kind of man that I would've hoped to become if my parents had not been murdered."

ACCELERATED HEALING
Barry Allen's connection to the speed force has increased his metabolism and given him accelerated healing, allowing him to recover from injury much faster than normal.

ENHANCED SENSES
Due to Barry's connection to the speed force, his senses are attuned to perceive the world around him at his reaction speed.

FLIGHT
While usually choosing to stay on the ground, Barry is capable of a rude form of flight. By spinning his arms and forcing the resulting vortex behind him, Barry is able to attain lift and forward motion.

LIGHT SPEED REACTION
Barry can think and react at faster than light speed, able to perceive events that may happen in the blink of an eye. He is also able to speed read and retain the knowledge of what he has read, but knowledge gained in this way tends to fade rapidly.

PHASING
Barry can vibrate every molecule in his body at speeds great enough to allow him to pass through solid objects for a short time, about as long as he can hold his breath.

PROJECT ENERGY
Barry moves so fast that he generates his own electricity, and is able to project this electricity from his arms in the form of a lightning bolt.

SPEED FORCE AURA
An aura surrounds Barry, protecting him and anything/one he carries from harm or damage that would be caused by the friction his speed would generate.

SPEED FORCE GENERATOR
Barry Allen is the creator and source of the Speed Force. It generates with every step that he takes. He is unaffected by other speedsters trying to siphon his speed due to this.

SUPERHUMAN REFLEXES
Barry's connection to the Speed Force gives him superhuman reflexes, able to move with grace and agility at his high speeds.

SUPERHUMAN STAMINA
Barry's connection to the Speed Force gives him nearly unlimited stamina allowing him to run almost indefinitely.

SUPER SPEED
Barry Allen is arguably one of the fastest beings in all existence. He is fast enough to break inter dimensional barriers and enter the speed force itself. Although capable of reaching speeds past the speed of light, he generally keeps himself slower to avoid damage caused by the wake he would leave behind him traveling at those speeds. His speed allows for feats such as running up the sides of a building, or across water.

TELEPATHIC RESISTANCE
Martian Manhunter once said that he can't enter Barry's mind because Barry was thinking to fast for the Manhunter to keep up with him. When Barry is in the midst of 'super thinking' he is immune to telepathic attack or manipulation, because nobody can keep up with how fast his mind is working.

TIME TRAVEL
Barry can run fast enough to break the time barrier. However, altering events in the past tends to cause unknown ramifications in the future. This also isn't something that is easy, predictable, or often all that POSSIBLE. Sometimes it outright doesn't work, or has backlash that is far worse than the intention.

VORTEXES

Barry is able to create vortexes by spinning his arms rapidly. These vortexes can be used to create a cushion of air to soften a fall, create a 'shield' of air, or push back an opponent. He can create larger vortexes by running in a circle, which can be used to pull out all the air in an area, or levitate the object within the vortex.

CRIMINOLOGY
Barry is trained in criminal psychology. He graduated with a minor in Criminology from Sun City University and has had extensive practice during his work for the CCPD and also as The Flash. He uses his insights into the criminal mind to attempt to predict behavior and possibly prevent future crime from happening.

DETECTIVE
Barry also has skills as a detective. While not on par with the likes of Batman, he knows how to search for clues and draw conclusion based on the clues that he finds.

FORENSICS

Barry is a trained forensic scientist, and all the knowledge that contains. A mix of Biochemistry, Biology, Ballistics, Chemistry, Fingerprinting, Toolmarks, and Toxicology as well as how to obtain, handle, and preserve evidence related to a crime.

CCPD
Working as a forensic scientist for the CCPD, Barry has access to the CCPD crime lab. This allows him to use the lab equipment and resources that he otherwise might not have access too personally.

COSTUME RING
Barry wears a costume constructed with special elastic polymers of his own design which when submersed in a special liquid, became sensitive to hydrogen, expanding on contact with the hydrogen in the air. A charge from a battery-powered ring on his finger can cause the fabric to release the extra hydrogen and shrink his costume into the ring. His costume also includes a police scanner in the ear phones of his mask and positive-enforced treads to prevent slipping.

JLA

As a member of the JLA, Barry can call upon and have access to the resources and benefits related to this team. This is not a small thing, as having the number of the most powerful heroes on earth can really be something useful! The tech, travel, and other benefits weigh in as well, as does simply being recognized as JLA. Sometimes free food is involved.

HIGH METABOLISM
While Barry's high metabolism is an asset, it is also a weakness. He requires copious amounts of food to replenish his body's fuel reserves.

TELEPATHIC ATTACK
When Barry is prepared and using his speed he is immune to telepathic attack, However, if he taken by surprise a telepathic attack will work on him just as well as any human.

TUNNEL VISION (LATE)

Even though Barry is the fastest man alive, he is still constantly late to everything. He can become obsessed with crime-solving at the lab that he will loose track of time.
