Profile

Jubilee is what is widely referred to as an ABC, American-born Chinese, a term that is used regardless whether one was born in America, Australia, Britain, South Africa, or in her case, Canada. Jubilee was the daughter of Dr. and Mrs. Lee, two prosperous Chinese Canadians who had emigrated before she was born. She grew up in Angel Grove, the southwest tip of Starling, British Columbia, and lived a charmed life. A terrific gymnast, she was thought to have Olympic potential. However, as fate would have it, in one weekend, her parents lost everything when a particularly risky investment turned sour, and then were murdered, as the assassins mixed up her home with that of her neighbours, who were also called the Lees. It's British Columbia, there's a sizeable Chinese Canadian community. Orphaned and alone, she managed to evade the system, living off her wits, until her mutant powers manifested at puberty. Eventually, she was found, placed into a nice foster home, and given training by Alpha Flight.
